Siwelele’s Resurgence Gathers Momentum After Away Win
Siwelele FC’s revival in the Betway Premiership continues to gather pace after a convincing 2-0 victory over Stellenbosch FC at the Athlone Stadium on Wednesday night, 5 November.
Goals from Tebogo Potsane and Siviwe Magidigidi secured the Bloemfontein outfit’s first away win of the season, marking their third triumph in four matches and extending their unbeaten run to four. The result lifted Siwelele to 10th place, a remarkable rise from the relegation zone.
Coach Lehlohonolo Seema praised his players’ steady progress but warned against complacency. “Fighting relegation remains our priority. We haven’t set ourselves any new goals,” he said. “As long as we’re in the bottom half, we are fighting for our lives,” he told a local publication on Thursday, 6 November.
Stellenbosch, by contrast, endured their seventh league defeat, already surpassing last season’s tally, despite celebrating Devin Titus’s 150th appearance.
For Siwelele, the blend of defensive solidity and renewed attacking purpose – highlighted by another clean sheet – has fuelled growing optimism. Seema, however, remains grounded: “Maybe after five more games we’ll see where we are, and then we can start talking about new targets.”
With momentum on their side, Siwelele are fast transforming from relegation contenders into a side rediscovering belief.
